I listened to a sample of King's narration of "The Wind Through the Keyhole. The audio book is now ruined for me, I will not buy it. Why Stephen King, an intelligent writer would think he is a narrator is a mystery to me. Why his audio book publisher allowed him to narrate it is an even bigger mystery.

Everyone: Please help stop Stephen King from narrating his books. Write negative reviews, email his publishers, email Stephen King, do what you can.

Many thanks for highlighting my article on the downside of having a home recording studio.

What might seem to be a cheap solution to audio book producers -hiring a narrator with a home studio- could end up in a frustrating and expensive fiasco.

I get regular requests to re-do recordings made by someone who was willing to work for beer money. Either the talent couldn’t interpret a script or couldn’t record it without hiss, mouth noises and the neighbor’s lawn mower in the background. Usually, it’s all of the above.

Great idea! I'm on a search to find out what to do with our set of World Book encyclopedias. The results are so sad. No one wants them. In a magazine, I saw a coffee table made out of encyclopedias - two stacks - with a glass table top. It was very attractive.

Awesome! I will definitely check out the W of Oz! But my absolute favorite reading is Dragonrider by Cornelia Funke as read by Brendan Fraser. It is marvelous.

We at Learning Ally are grateful to volunteers and advocates like you and Simon Vance -- for drawing public attention to the critical role that accessible materials play in the lives of people with print disabilities. Countless thousands of students benefit from great volunteer voices across the U.S. -- bringing books to life in an accessible format that levels the educational playing field and enables them to achieve their best.

Thank you for share Maggie Gram's post and a lovely valentine indeed!

A friend shared with me: "I too have felt snubbed by people who regard audiobooks as not "real" reading. I feel vindicated after reading this essay. Very thought-provoking piece. Uh, is there an audio version available?"

I didn't realize she won the Grammy. I just reviewed this audio today for Booklist. She's pretty amazing and the neat thing about this title is the short length, perfect for introducing to new audiobook listeners, short road trips, or maybe long exercise sessions.
