Nook Simple Touch as web browser
Posted by: Mary Burkey
Easy as typing URL in Search! This video shows the hidden function needs no techy rooting or hacking – but does require a wifi connection. Owners & libraries that field patron questions about Barnes & Noble’s newest ebook reader will love this touch screen experience that, even in its not-ready-for-prime-time beta form, contains many of the Nook Color web tools. I’ll be looking for an update that will unlock the web on the Simple Touch. I do wish that there could be a retroactive installation of a headphone jack & sound capabilities so that the Nook Simple Touch could be used as an audiobook player – a glaring omission, in my opinion, in an otherwise awesome product. Thanks to Gizmodo for the heads-up!
And yes, for those of you counting, the Nook Simple Touch is my 4th ebook reader. I have retired my original Sony, still love the Kindle for its ability to download & listen to audiobooks even while in another country via 3g, and plan to re-root my Nook Color with the latest software upgrade using CM7 to make it an Android Tablet (with Kindle & Audible apps). Plus I have found the perfect ebook reader purse: Baggallini’s Everyday Bag. I do love shiny toys!
