The Knife of Never Letting Go

How does the Noise translate into an audiobook? Take a sneak peek from Brilliance Audio of today’s release of Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking trilogy. As part of the new Candlewick on Brilliance imprint, Brilliance is simultaneously releasing The Knife of Never Letting Go, The Ask and the Answer, and Monsters of Men. I must admit to anxious anticipation as I ponder just what audiobook production magic was needed to make audible the Noise that underlies the society of New World. I breathed a sigh of relief when I played the sneak peek clip - Nick Podehl’s voicing of Todd Hewitt is spot on and the Noise is, well, disturbing. As it should be. Now I’m left with waiting to hear the whole thing – and to experience Manchee’s voice. Oh Manchee…
Chaos Walking fans, I hope you’re as satisfied with this clip as I am:
I have seldom been so emotionally affected by a book as when I read The Knife of Never Letting Go on the beach, with the beauty of the Dominican Republic completely unnoticed. When I couldn’t immediately get my hands on the sequel, the seed was planted to buy my new Kindle 3 – now I can download a book on any beach in the world. And wonders of wonders, today Patrick Ness revealed that he’s celebrating the release of his trilogy on the Kindle with a FREE Kindle download of a prequel to Chaos Walking on October 18th. Now I can justify the Kindle even though I also have a Sony Reader. Plus a drawer full of MP3 players for audiobooks. And hey, I just bought a new CD Walkman to replace one dropped on the floor. Thank heavens the cassette is finally dead!
