Swine flu? Audiobooks to the rescue!
Posted by: Mary Burkey
Kids in my school are abuzz with Swine Flu rumors and speculation. A perfect opportunity to build a connection to a great audiobook – plus provide some practical health tips! Full Cast Audio’s Briar’s Book, the stand-alone fourth & final volume in Tamora Pierce’s Circle of Magic series, details the spread of a deadly epidemic in the fantasy world of Emelan and the efforts of four young mages to halt the spread of disease. Where else can you find information on infection, quarantine, hand washing, and public safety wrapped inside a rollicking adventure? Grab this opportunity to hook listeners from elementary to high school (and quite a few adults, too) with a fantastic production that pairs author/narrator Tamora Pierce with a full cast of performers, including teen voices as the mage heroes. Guaranteed attention whether used as a classroom listen-aloud or for the family commute!

We’ll definitely need a lot to listen to while we’re sitting at home with schools closed!

H1N1 or Swine Flu is a bit scary but it a good thing to note that this virus is not that very deadly. .
